Lace For Less

Here’s how to make a luxurious lace skirt quick and easily for under £5!

Lace was all over the catwalks at London fashion week last week, with haute-couture designers such as Oscar De La Renta and Jasper Conran incorporating the luscious fabric into their designs. However, if you’re on a student budget like myself garments made of lace can be expensive. Unless you’re thrifty with a sewing machine that is.

All you need to create this simple yet bang on trend look is a plain black bodycon skirt (I bought mine from Primark for £3) and some lace trim (available on ebay for under £2 a meter), and some black thread. Simply tack the trim to the hem of the skirt with pins then sew into place.

Now you have a luxurious lace skirt ready to wear for under £5.
